Borellii Apistogramma

The Borellii Apistogramma is a beautiful dwarf cichlid prized for its peaceful nature, striking coloration, and fascinating behavior. Males develop brilliant blue, yellow, and red tones, while females become especially vibrant when breeding, making this species a standout in a planted community aquarium.

Scientific Name: Apistogramma borellii
Adult Size: 2.5 inches
Diet: Omnivore
Minimum Tank Size: 20 gallons
Temperature: 72-79°F
pH: 6.0-7.5
Temperament: Peaceful, but territorial when breeding

Care & Compatibility

Borellii Apistogrammas do best in a well-planted aquarium with plenty of hiding places, driftwood, caves, and leaf litter to help them feel secure. A sandy substrate is ideal, and gentle water movement is preferred since they come from calm waters. They are generally peaceful and can be kept with other small, non-aggressive fish such as tetras, rasboras, corydoras, and other calm community species. Avoid housing them with large, fast, or overly boisterous tankmates, especially during spawning periods when they may become more territorial.

Feeding

Offer a varied diet of high-quality micro pellets, crushed flakes, frozen foods, and live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms. A protein-rich diet helps maintain their color and condition, and feeding small portions once or twice daily is ideal.

A beautiful and unique addition for the freshwater aquarium, the Borellii Apistogramma is a great choice for aquarists looking to add something special to their collection!
